Student Resident Guide on campus and regulations 2019/20
- Completed your online registration and uploaded a photo – this photo will be used on your Campus Card and is very important!
- Registered your card details in order to set up payments for Residence Fees
- If you are a full-time student (not an exchange or single semester student) print off your arrivals pass by logging back into your housing offer.
When to arrive
Arrivals will take place over the 14th and 15th of September 2019. If you plan to arrive from the 16th September onwards, please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
During the offer acceptance process you selected an arrival slot, please ensure you stick to that time slot to ensure the day can run smoothly for everyone.
Unfortunately, are unable to accommodate any early arrivals (before 14th September) to accommodation.
You are able to arrive on Saturday 14th September. If you have not been able to select this date during the acceptance process, please don’t worry, just email us at email@example.com to let us know.
For any further international arrival queries, including information about airport transfers, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Cathedral Point & Riverside Way
You should have received information with your offer regarding when to arrive.
Students arriving to Riverside Way have been asked to arrive on Sunday 16th September – no arrivals will be permitted on Saturday 15th unless previously agreed with the Riverside Way management team.
Where to collect your key
Saturday & Sunday (14th & 15th September)
Key collection over arrivals weekend will take place in the St Alphege Building in the King Alfred Quarter, SO22 4NJ.
If you are arriving from Monday 16th September onwards, you will be able to collect your key from Student Housing Services. Details will be sent to you.
Cathedral Point & Riverside Way
Those moving in to Cathedral Point & Riverside Way do not collect keys from the University but will need to collect their keys from the relevant building’s Reception desk as per the Arrivals information you have been sent.
We do ask that students arriving by car only bring one vehicle due to the limited number of spaces available.
Those who bring multiple vehicles, may be asked to find alternative off campus parking for any additional vehicles.
Parking for key collection is in the Dytche car park. There will be signage from nearby main roads and staff on hand to direct you in and out of the car park.
We would advise you use SO22 4NJ if you are using SatNav.
A number of the roads leading up to the University are narrow and so we ask that you drive carefully and be mindful of others including our non-student neighbours.
Moving in to Halls
Once you have collected your key, you will be directed to your Hall or off campus property. For students moving in to Halls, you will be given a parking permit hanger, which must be displayed in your car once you have parked.
You will have 45 minutes to unload belongings from your car – don’t worry, we have plenty of staff on hand to help you with this!
If you would like to stay longer, or believe you may return later in the day, we ask that you park in nearby alternative car parks, such as the Royal Hampshire County Hospital Multi-storey which is situated on Burma Road.
If you are moving in to a property off campus, please be mindful that there may be parking restrictions in some areas. We do also ask that you consider other residents when parking and do not block any access areas.
For information about public car parks in Winchester, please visit the city council website.
Access to the key collection room is via a number of steps. Students who have let us know that they have a mobility requirement will receive an email from us with alternative key collection arrangements should they need them.
Please do be aware that we can only make alternative arrangements for the student collecting a key. We do understand that students may be arriving with family or friends who also have mobility problems; there is limited parking available for blue badge holders around the University and so you may wish to park in one of those spaces rather than the main key collection car park.
There are lifts available in the following buildings which you may access over that weekend (there are more lift facilities available on site):
- King Alfred Centre
- St Alphege Building
